IT'S A WRAP! IT WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD!

SF Silent Film Festival 2014, our 19th, concluded on Sunday night June 1 with Buster Keaton's deliriously funny The Navigator accompanied by the Matti Bye Ensemble. It was the icing on the cake of a delicious weekend that started with Rudolph Valentino's scintillating tango in Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Opening night was accompanied by Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra who celebrated their 25th Anniversary together at the festival.

We were pleased to host many celebrated guests from around the world including Serge Bromberg from Lobster Films, Paris; Bryony Dixon from BFI, London; Martin Koerber from Deutsche Kinemathek in Berlin; Fernando Peña from Museo de Arte in Buenos Aires; Céline Ruivo from Cinémathèque Française, Paris; Patrick Stanbury from Photoplay, London; among many others! And delighted to welcome back our wonderful group of international musicians--Guenter Buchwald (Germany), Stephen Horne (UK), Matti Bye Ensemble (Sweden), Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra (US), and Donald Sosin (US). We were even able to bring two more musicians into the SFSFF fold this year--Frank Bockius (Germany) and Sascha Jacobsen (US).

And we are thrilled at the triumphant restoration of 1916's The Good Bad Man with Douglas Fairbanks, spearheaded by our very own Rob Byrne and Tracey Goessel with the Cinémathèque Française. Kevin Brownlow calls the restoration "practically perfect!"

2014 was our most ambitious Festival yet, with 19 programs featuring films from 7 different countries. Beautiful images accompanied by glorious music played live by supremely talented musicians, attended by superb audiences. Yes, thank you, our wonderful audience for making SFSFF possible!

And now's your chance to give us feedback. We'd love to hear what you have to say. Take our SHORT SURVEY HERE. You'll have the chance to win a prize!
