Go Short program 2014
In five days Go Short offers you the best and latest short films from Europe. The European competition, the Dutch competition and the Breaking Shorts student competition form the backbone of Go Short. All the films in the competition will be judged by two international juries. The juries are made up of filmmaker, actors and representatives of festivals like Hamburg International Short Film Festival, Tampere and Sundance Film Festival. All films are in the running for the Go Short awards, and the winners will be announced on Saturday April 12th.
Focus programs
In addition to the competition, Go Short offers three focus programs. Food & Film is the theme in focus, encompassing everything from classic food fights to documentaries about food production. The filmmaker in focus is the Scottish director and BAFTA winner Paul Wright. We also have a look at the new wave of filmmakers from Belgium. Then there are many other special programs, interesting talks and exhibitions, a film concert and parties.
Belgium in focus
Belgian films are doing remarkably well internationally. Feature films such as Rundskop, The Broken Circle Breakdown and Marina were very well received, and in the field of short films many young filmmakers are excelling and picking up awards at festivals around the world. Oh Willy ... by Emma De Swaef was the most successful short of last year, receiving over 50 awards and special mentions. At Go Short we will welcome her and many other talented Belgian filmmakers to showcase their films. During a talk presented by Flemish cultural center De Brakke Grond, the short film climate in Belgium will be explored further.
