The fourteenth Kustendorf International Film and Music Festival starts tomorrow and will last until January 25, 2021. This year, the festival is held online and can be followed via a digital platform, at the web address "kustendorf.online".
The festival starts tomorrow, 22.01. from 6 pm and it will be officially opened by the founder of the festival Emir Kusturica.
Young filmmakers and greats of world auteur film will be the focus of this year's Kustendorf as well. As part of the festival, as a special treat for all film art lovers, the talks of the festival's founder Emir Kusturica with all participants of the festival will be shown - with authors whose films are shown within the competition and the program "Contemporary Tendencies".
COMPETITION PROGRAM - The competition program of the 14th Kustendorf International Film and Music Festival will consist of twenty-two short films by domestic and foreign authors. Films by young directors from Poland, Belgium, Serbia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Germany, Russia, Romania, Denmark, Iran, Israel, Kyrgyzstan, Montenegro, Uzbekistan and France will compete for the Golden, Silver and Bronze Egg festival awards.
The international jury consists of Alice Rohrwacher, award-winning Italian director, actor Miki Manojlovic and Bruno Tarrière, cameraman and sound designer from France. The "Vilko Filac" award for the best photograph will be given by the French director of photography, Michel Amathieu.
The selected films reflect the poeticism and diversity of the entire production and stand out for their style and authentic view of the world. The competition program of the 14th Kustendorf will consist of 18 feature films, 2 documentaries and 2 animated short films.
CONTEMPORARY TENDENCIES - In "Contemporary Tendencies" will be shown: the winner of the special jury award of the Venice Film Festival, Andrei Konchalovsky's film "Dear Comrades!" (Dear Comrades!), the film "Wendy" directed by Benh Zeitlin, the film "Miss Marx" by Susanna Nicchiarelli and the film "Stonebreaker” (Spaccapietre) by the duo of Gianluca and Massimiliano De Serio, as well as the last film by the famous director Kim Ki Duk "Dissolve", which will follow Emir Kusturica's conversation with Dinara Zhumagaliyeva, who produced this film and played the main role in it.
Within the program unit RETROSPECTIVE OF THE GIANTS, four episodes of the series "Once Upon a Time" by Emir Kusturica will be shown and a program dedicated to the American actress Faye Dunaway.
