The time has come to raid the closets and prepare the most glamorous of frocks, because the 21st Annual Mardi Gras Film Festival is just two weeks away, kicking off on Thursday 13th of February at Event Cinemas on George Street, Sydney.
Sure to put the "fabulous" into film, Queer Screen will be celebrating their 21st anniversary in style with the launch of a pop-up film festival bar that will serve as the hub of Queer entertainment this February.
The doors will swing open with all the romance of the Valentine's Day "Traffic Light Party" on Friday, February 14th with DJs George Rousso and Sveta.
The party will continue each night from 6pm for 10 days of the Festival. Inspiring performances from the crème of Sydney’s Queer scene, DJ sets from the likes of Kitty Glitter and Mark Alsop, special events in partnership with community groups, free talks and of course a bar overflowing with the only the finest of drinks.
But not all this excitement is kept to the nighttime. On Wednesday, 19th February, the bar will open up early for afternoon tea with Aunty Mavis following the screening of Gerontophilia and on Sunday, 23rd February, the final day of the festival and pop-up bar will kick off from noon with Harbour City Bears social drinks with djmikeyb.
That's but a taste of the 10 days of fun and frivolity that the Mardi Gras Film Festival pop-up bar will have to offer. For full details of the pop-bar program head to www.queerscreen.org.au/mgff/events/
Sitting at Event Cinemas on George St alongside the film festival itself, everyone is invited to come along after work, before a movie or after a late night screening to ensure this oh-you've-grown-up-so-fast 21 year old is given the party she deserves.
You don't want to miss this.
