Amid apocalyptic omens and global uncertainties, interfilm is back to present you with its glorious short film universe. From 10 to 15 November more than 30 programs will screen in 8 Berlin venues

And from 11 to 22 November a selection of programs will be available online at Sooner.de

Locations: trusty favourites and fresh faces

The current situation puts considerable demands on the cultural sector and interfilm has also adjusted to distancing and hygiene regulations. While some of our smaller regular venues will have to take a break this year, new ones have been added. This year's list of locations includes: Volksbühne Berlin, Babylon, Rollberg Kino, Zeiss-Großplanetarium, ACUD Kino, Pfefferberg Theater & Haus 13, Bar & Kino in der Königstadt.

The festival program: Reduce to the max and take it online

We have boiled our program down to its bare essentials, creating a structure that allows us to present our core program with fewer screenings and in accordance with safety and hygiene guidelines. At the same time, we have created an online program in cooperation with Sooner.de, which promises to deliver the next-best-thing to a cinematic festival vibe including Q&As and funky intros. But don’t despair, even in this challenging 2020 year you can still enjoy our extensive competitions and diverse range of special programs, with a new and separate focus on post-colonialism. This year's regional focus is dedicated to the rich filmmaking landscape of Poland.

Trailers & Posters

The stunning festival trailer for interfilm’s 36th edition is directed by Merlin Flügel, animation filmmaker and winner of the Jury Prize in Annecy (Graduation Film).

Here it is, all fresh and sparkling new, this year's Festival-Trailer

And in line with our Poland focus, the festival posters were designed by Kaja Renkas based on motifs from the festival trailer. Kaja's poster art is characterised by her signature collage-style and she will present some of her works in an augmented reality exhibition during the festival on site.

We are looking forward to a week devoted to short films, exciting discussions and formative experiences - despite social-distancing, fewer seats and mysterious masks. Show your solidarity, remember to be considerate and come and celebrate the best short films of the year!
