The good news: The 37th French Film Festival in Tübingen | Stuttgart 2020 take place! Live! From October 28 to November 4, 2020. Once again this year, the largest showcase for Francophone film in Germany will present the latest films from the entire Francophonie, from idiosyncratic auteur films by still undiscovered filmmakers to opulent cinema events with star cast for the big screen.
Film days online
With around 15,000 visitors, the French Film Days are a real public festival. Again this year, despite the distance rules and hygiene concept: An online version of the film days is planned for the first time. Those who love francophone films have the opportunity to enjoy the best francophone cinema from anywhere in Germany in the first week of November. Even without knowledge of French: all films are of course subtitled!
The international and French competitions provide an exciting overview of the latest francophone film productions and thus offer a special view of the present.
Francophone Perspectives
An important thematic focus this year is Francophone Africa. Ten films, most of which were produced by African filmmakers in Africa, focus on the continent.
Homage, homage: Michel Piccoli and above all Agnès Varda, who was a guest in Tübingen in 2008, have been accompanying the French Film Festival from the very beginning. That is why these two icons of French film are particularly remembered.
Heroines! Nurses in World War II, women who conquered the world in men's clothes in the 19th century, South American reporters - one of the main topics shows extraordinary films about extraordinary women.
The end of the war 75 years ago will also be a theme of this year's festival.
Music and discussions
The French Film Days have not lost any of their enthusiasm for discussion: there is no refraining from engaging in engaging discussions on all of the festival's main focuses. On the contrary: the virtual space opens up completely new possibilities for dealing with many people around the world.
No film days without a Cinéconcert! This year there is a special project on the program: students from the Jamclub music school in Tübingen wrote a piece of music for the silent film classic "Nosferatu" by F.W. Murnau, which is performed in Tübingen, Stuttgart and Reutlingen.
Everything will be a little different at the 37th French Film Festival. What will stay: good films, good conversations, good atmosphere. Not only in Tübingen, Rottenburg, Reutlingen and Stuttgart.
“Maybe these film days will be the best we've ever had,” says festival director Christopher Buchholz.
It starts. We look forward to the weeks ahead until the opening of the 37th French Film Festival in Tübingen | Stuttgart and we look forward to seeing you with us. We are of course at your disposal for any questions, images, interview appointments and more detailed information.
Cordialement
