The first submission deadline is approaching for the 18th annual Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, accepting early bird entries through Friday, July 10. The premier venue for nonfiction film in the American West, Big Sky offers an ideal setting to debut new work and develop lasting relationships with fellow filmmakers and industry. The festival draws nearly 20,000 audience members and film entries from every corner of the globe to a uniquely intimate mountain town setting with local flavor. BSDFF is an Academy Award qualifying event for short documentaries and has been selected four years running for MovieMaker's list of 50 Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee. In addition to screenings and special events, BSDFF hosts the DocShop filmmaker's forum, a 5-day industry conference with panels, workshops, master classes and the Big Sky Pitch for works-in-progress.
