During the COVID-19 pandemic, more than ever, FIN Atlantic International Film Festival recognizes its purpose to celebrate quality screen content and bring the community together. Assuming a continuation of public health measures, it has been decided that the 2020 festival will take place entirely online from Thursday, September 17 to Thursday, September 24, through a brand-new online initiative         called FIN AIFF Stream.

“In this most unusual time, FIN is reacting to the uncertainty of the current situation with the well-being of our audience as our main priority,” says Wayne Carter, Executive Director at FIN. “We are fortunate to have the ability to take our festival online this year and in a “silver lining” situation make the festival easily accessible to movie lovers throughout Atlantic Canada for the first time.”

FIN AIFF Stream will run on the festival’s new online streaming platform that will have capacity limits and feature industry-grade anti-piracy measures. Tickets will be sold through FIN’s online box office which will be valid for the duration of the festival. Celebratory elements of the in-person festival will also be moved online with enhanced social media initiatives, panel discussions and interactive Q&As.

The full program for FIN AIFF Stream will be announced online on Wednesday, August 19.

Committed to supporting quality cinema in Atlantic Canada and championing local and regional filmmakers, FIN’s new and accessible online experience will not only continue a 40-year tradition of bringing people together to enjoy the best in screen content, but will also provide an important bridge to future years, when FIN can once again safely host in-person gatherings.

FIN AIFF Stream would not be possible without the unwavering support of our presenting partner, Bell Media; Signature Partner, RBC; Legacy Partner, CBC and our government supporters, Telefilm, Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency and Nova Scotia Communities, Culture & Heritage.
