EFA Young Audience Award Cancels Theatre Screenings & Goes Online

Due to the Coronavirus crisis the European Film Academy and its partner network sadly have to cancel all theatre jury screenings planned for 26 April in 40 countries across Europe and beyond. While nothing compares to the experience of watching a film in a theatre in a group of other film-lovers, in times like these the most important thing is to stop the virus from continuing to spread at high speed.

That doesn’t mean that you cannot watch great films and this year’s EFA Young Audience Award will therefore take place in a completely virtual format which is currently being developed. Anyone between the ages of 12 and 14 is welcome to join the international jury - online. Further information will be available at yaa.europeanfilmawards.eu, which also includes information on quality young audience films of past YAA editions and where to watch them online.

Even though the planned cinema screenings will not take place, a lot of energy has already gone into the preparations and we wish to thank all of our partners (find a full list here).

The EFA Young Audience Award is organised and presented by the European Film Academy and EFA Productions with the support of Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung (MDM) and the Creative Europe – Media Sub-Programme of the European Union. Media partner is FRED Film Radio.
