Under the motto “Ready to Play? Breaking the Rules”, Berlinale Talents 2014 will encourage its 300 budding filmmakers to experiment with new and unusual ways of bringing their stories and characters to life on screen. The focus in 2014 will be on storytelling and successful scriptwriting. Berlinale Talents will assist the filmmakers in playfully approaching character development.
“For us, Breaking the Rules means introducing filmmakers with daring and new methods, it's about boldly questioning established structures and playfully discovering new paths and possibilities,” says programme manager Matthijs Wouter Knol.
Berlinale Talents 2014 will take place from February 8 to 13 at the Theater HAU Hebbel am Ufer. Each year around 4000 filmmakers from about 140 countries apply, and a selection committee composed of international professionals selects 300 exceptional talents to invite to Berlin.
