In its 16th year bringing you the finest cinema from India and the Indian diaspora, IFFLA is excited to announce another standout lineup. The festival takes place April 11-15 at Regal L.A. LIVE in downtown Los Angeles. Tickets and Passes now on sale.
Manoj Bajpayee fans, ahoy! The star will walk the red carpet at the Opening Night Gala with Dipesh Jain's debut feature IN THE SHADOWS. You don't want to miss this atmospheric thriller about a reclusive vigilante, set in the walled city of Old Delhi.
The fest will conclude with Rima Das's uplifting feature VILLAGE ROCKSTARS, a tale of a 10-year-old Assamese girl who dreams of starting her own rock band. Das will attend the event, and is one of 11 female filmmakers in this year's program.
To honor the memory of the late Sridevi, IFFLA will screen her popular 1989 film CHANDNI, courtesy of Yash Raj Films. Co-starring Rishi Kapoor and the late Vinod Khanna, this quintessential love triangle narrative with evergreen songs is a sterling ode to one of the most beloved actors of her generation.
Other program highlights include Hansal Mehta's Rajkummar Rao-starrer OMERTA, based on the kidnapping and murder of journalist Daniel Pearl; Ben Rekhi's THE ASHRAM, a story of mystical intrigue in the Himalayas, starring Sam Keeley, Melissa Leo, Radhika Apte and Kal Penn; and THE HUNGRY, a modern retelling of Shakespeare’s “Titus Andronicus,” featuring Bollywood royalty Naseeruddin Shah.
