Today marks an exciting milestone in the evolution of the Atlantic Film Festival as the organization officially announces its new name and brand, FIN.
Inspired by the closing titles of international films and our place on the ocean, FIN is not the end it is the new beginning.
“Great brand names are like movie titles,” said Phil Otto, CEO of Revolve, the firm behind the rebrand. “They set up the brand’s story but don’t try to tell it. They pique your interest because they aren’t too literal. And they’re able to evolve with the brand as new features are added.”
“For 37 years, we’ve been Atlantic Canada’s curator of epic and unforgettable stories. That proud tradition will continue with renewed focus and passion as we launch our new name and brand to the world,” added Wayne Carter, FIN Executive Director.
“While our old name served its purpose, we have grown as an organization, offering movie lovers and makers a variety of programs throughout the year,” continued Carter.
The rebrand will also bring new names for all those programs next year, with an emphasis on the FIN brand. The former Atlantic Film Festival is now FIN: Atlantic International Film Festival, Strategic Partners will become FIN Partners, Viewfinders will become FIN Kids, Outdoor Film Experience will become FIN Outdoor, and Atlantic Filmmaker Focus, Script Development Program, and other similar programs will become FIN Makers.
“We have always been more than just a film festival. We are the rising tide for all filmmaking and enjoyment in Atlantic Canada and beyond. FIN lets us tell this broader story with improved clarity,” concluded Carter.
