A new Business platform
UDINE – The Udine Far East Film Festival, in partnership with MIA - The International Audiovisual Market in Rome and with the collaboration of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Audiovisual Fund and DG Cinema – MIBACT, presents FOCUS ASIA. It is a first step in the direction of strengthening relations between Europe and Asia in the movie-genres cinema market and offering European buyers the opportunity of getting in-depth knowledge on new western film productions during FEFF in April.
During its 18 years of activity, FEFF has managed to promote the Asian markets and give in-depth information on its regulations and productive development policies. FEFF has managed to highlight the potentiality of these markets to the Europeans and create the foundations of a bilateral path: a kind of mutual exchange with the European Audiovisual industry as the center of attention. The aim of Focus Asia is to further develop these foundations towards the East, which has always been leader in the film genre production, in the medium to long term business perspective.
MIA, which is an ANICA and APT brand and also a product of Fondazione Cinema of Rome, is a collective tool of internationalization that supports the Italian audiovisual industry (a market concerning the industry for the industry). Since 1997 the Udine Far East Film Festival has been the main melting pot for popular Asiatic cinema in Europe. The mutual cooperation between these two organizations has enabled to create this new business platform that plans to strengthen relations between the European and Far East film industries.
TIES THAT BIND – an Asian/European Co-Production Workshop organized by the FVG Audiovisual Fund in partnership with EAVE has been sustaining the Far East Film Community in analyzing any possible market productivity penetration between Asia and Europe for 8 years. It is therefore in this scenario that the First Edition of FOCUS ASIA will create a platform where Eastern and European sales agents and buyers, film distributors, television broadcasters, VOD Platforms and Internet Player Companies have the opportunity to meet and do business together. The first edition of Focus Asia will be held at the Cinema Visionario in Udine during the Far East Film Festival, the 27th, 28th and 29th April and will include film screenings, research panels and individual meetings.
