«Pacific Meridian» is an International Film Festival of Asian Pacific Countries.
One of the main goals of the Vladivostok Film Festival is the development of cultural exchange between Asia-Pacific countries and showcasing movies of the Asia-Pacific region. Film enthusiasts will be able to see the latest Asian and European films as well as the most recent works of Russian filmmakers.
This year VIFF Pacific Meridian presents a brand new 'Non-Format' program that includes three films, three surreal revelations that are difficult to describe by words. Is it possible to elaborate on the radical context of author statements in modern cinema? At first glance, all the boundaries have already been broken - there are no limits or laws. However young filmmakers still want to enter a terra incognita, make something that the world has never seen.
The closest genre description for films in 'Non-Format' is mockumentary, they are all on the verge of playing a game with documentary filmmaking when the directors express their postmodern view of reality that the audience will have to assess.
