KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival pioneers as the biggest gay & lesbian film festival in India and South Asia. It is the only queer film fest to be held at a mainstream venue - one of Mumbai's top multiplexes; and was the first LGBT festival to receive clearance from India's Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Since its debut in 2010, KASHISH has today become one of the important annual events in Mumbai's cultural calendar. The 4th edition of KASHISH will be held between May 22-26, 2013 at a city multiplex and Alliance Francaise de Bombay. The five day event at two venues - in South Mumbai and the Western Suburbs - attracts LGBT persons from India and abroad, their families and friends, the creme da la creme from the field of art, literature, theatre and Bollywood as well as mainstream audiences.
The theme for this year's festival is 'TOWARDS CHANGE'.
KASHISH is a not-for-profit event and funds collected are utilized to meet costs of organizing the event. The festival relies on companies, organizations and individuals who believe in KASHISH and in supporting LGBT initiatives.
