To boost its already strong line-up for 2015, the Marché du Film - Festival de Cannes, has programmed its inaugural China Summit, welcoming top industry players to the French Riviera to address the 12,000 plus Marché badge holders.
The three-day event, will feature a number of topical sessions, including a special “Sino-French” afternoon, an overview of the Chinese market, an exploration of the booming VOD sector, and an introduction to co-producing with China.
This year’s China Summit runs May 16-19, 2015, and offers a jam-packed series of conferences and events designed to educate and introduce participants to top Chinese players and market developments.
A number of this year’s sessions will be introduced by Deloitte as the main partner in this year’s China Summit, and with our media partners: Variety, Screen International, The Hollywood Reporter and The Chinese Film Market.

Saturday, May 16
A special “Sino-French” afternoon in association with the Centre National du Cinéma et de l’Image Animée.
3:00 - 4:30pm: Attractiveness of French and Chinese Territories, moderated by Jean-Paul Salomé, Unifrance’s President, with an introduction by Frédérique Bredin, CEO of CNC and Yin Fu, Director of the Chinese Cultural center in Paris.
4:30 - 6:00pm: Strategies of Exhibition and Distribution in France and China, examples of Sino-French co-productions moderated by Richard Patry, President of the French Cinema Exhibitors' Association.
Monday, May 18
10:00am - 12:00pm Chinese Film Market Overview:
China is now the world’s second largest theatrical market, after the U.S. For this session, a selection of high-profile panelists will discuss the tastes and behaviors of Chinese audiences, distribution protocols and the best marketing strategies for releasing films in China. This round table will be presented in partnership with Variety, and moderated by Patrick Frater, Asia Bureau Chief, Variety.

2:00 - 4:00pm: Pitching of projects - New Chinese Film Talents Fund Forum
Come and discover 8 new Chinese talents in Cannes and hopefully follow-up with them for a meeting after the pitching session. Presented with The Hollywood Reporter, this session will look at the art of co-producing with China. Insiders will discuss the advantages and the pitfalls of co-producing with China; how to co-produce films for the Chinese market or Chinese films for abroad, with or without a coproduction treaty. The session will be moderated by Clifford Coonan, Asia Bureau Chief, The Hollywood Reporter.
